The Cipher communicates exclusively through letters, and those letters have a personality. Theatrical, occasionally dry, sometimes smug, but always entertaining.
Before every puzzle he sets the stakes. After every puzzle he reveals the answer and shares his opinions about how you performed.
Getting it right earns his respect. Getting it wrong is equally memorable.

Step 1 The Opening Letter
Before every puzzle, the Reader reads The Cipher's Opening Letter aloud to the group. It introduces the puzzle, sets the stakes, and builds the anticipation.
Step 2 Solve the Puzzle
Puzzle sheets are handed out and the timer starts. Every player solves on their own. No sharing answers. No shortcuts. You have minutes to figure it out.
Step 3 The Answer Letter
When time is up, The Cipher has the final word. The Reader reads his Answer Letter aloud, reveals the solution, explains the logic, and has opinions about your performance. Strong opinions.
