How It Works
The game is played in 10 rounds. One player serves as the Reader for the game. Here is how each round plays out:
The Reader reads The Cipher's Opening Letter aloud to the group. He introduces the puzzle, sets the stakes, and builds the anticipation before a single puzzle sheet is handed out.
Every player receives their own puzzle sheet and the timer starts. Players solve individually. No sharing answers, no shortcuts. You have minutes to figure it out.
When time is up, the Reader reads The Cipher's Answer Letter aloud. He reveals the solution, walks through the logic, and shares his opinions about how your group performed. Strong opinions!
Points are recorded and the group moves to the next puzzle. The player or team with the most points after all 10 rounds wins.
10 Puzzles, Each One Different
No two puzzles are alike. The Cipher's Challenge features number puzzles, word puzzles, visual patterns, logic and deduction challenges, and hidden codes. Puzzles are worth 1 to 4 points each with a maximum possible score of 30 points. Every puzzle is designed to make you work for it. Some will reward a flash of insight. Others will test you right to the final second.
